Regardless of conflicting headlines and some hiring volatility, the first half of 2024 did deliver job growth with the BLS reporting an additional 2.5m jobs since January. Healthcare, Technology, and Energy sectors were the most active overall, but the real driver behind those numbers is the roles and skills we saw the demand surge across the board. The top five roles in demand thus far have been Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Blockchain Engineer, UX Designer, and Cyber Security Engineer with the largest shift in skills requirements being ML/AI. Not surprising, but we are seeing a shift in core requirements in those primary data analytics roles as they are increasingly expected to work with artificial intelligence and machine learning to structure, query, and manipulate data in today’s organizations.
